Look at this peeps! Awesome use of epidural AND po Look at this peeps! Awesome use of epidural AND positioning!! I’m going to assume she’s also using hypnobirthing because she looks so chilled (that’s ok, right?)
⭐️
I talk all the time about how the beds can change position and how, if you opt for an epidural it doesn’t mean you have to stay on your back. ⭐️
You might need some extra pillows to support your legs etc but you can totally make it work! ⭐️
You’ve got this 😘

Just look at this little Shmoosh ❤️💙! All c Just look at this little Shmoosh ❤️💙! All curled up and covered in vernix like it’s just come out of the womb - well it has! But have you noticed the shape of its head? That is called ‘molding’ and it is specifically to enable your baby to fit as it comes out of the womb, through the birth canal and out of your “teeny tiny” (not my opinion but what most of my clients are scared about) vagina! 👶🏻
This can happen because your baby’s skull plates will not form together until they are about a year old. Precisely so they can fit regardless of your baby’s size! 👶🏻
Obviously it makes a massive difference if you are able to move during labour and change position (possible even with an epidural) because even the smallest babies can have difficulties if mum is lying flat on her back! 👶🏻
The basic fact is our bodies are awesome! 👶🏻
You’ve got this Mama 😘

How cool is this 🤗🤗🤗???? Whenever I teach How cool is this 🤗🤗🤗????
Whenever I teach about induction I always tell my clients if induction is suggested they should ask for their Bishop’s Score. This incredible graphic from @beforethebirth shows exactly what they are looking at. ♟(well, there’s not a Bishop Emoji 🤷🏻‍♀️) If your score is low (find out what they are measuring out of) the process of induction is likely to take a looooong time and you have a high chance of ending up with a Caesarean. ♟
If your score is half way or higher, there is a good chance you will respond well to the induction process because your body is clearly very ready for labour. ♟
This should help you make a decision as to whether you want to go ahead with the induction or decline. REMEMBER: it’s your choice and if baby and you are fine, you have time to talk and make a decision that feels right for you. ♟
You’ve got this Mama 😘

Did you know that getting into certain positions can open the pelvis by 28%⁣
⁣
During labour this is important as it creates more space for your baby to move into a good position and through the pelvis. This makes giving birth easier!⁣
⁣
𝐔𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 ⁣
Gravity is on your side, helping your baby move downwards more easily⁣
⁣
𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 ⁣
Leaning forwards moves the sacrum and coccyx out of the way creating more space⁣
⁣
𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧⁣
Find positions that will help to open the pelvis at the part where your baby is at that time
⁣
𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐝 ⁣
More often than not a bed is in the centre of a birthing room at a hospital. This is usually for easy access and if you require monitoring in labour, means there is more space around the bed for the equipment. ⁣
⁣
But contrary to popular belief 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐝!! 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦! Even if your baby’s heart rate needs continuous monitoring, even with an epidural! However, if you want or need to be on the bed use it to support you in U.FO positions. ⁣
⁣
Here are some ideas of how to achieve U.F.O in a Labour Ward room:⁣
⁣
-Birth ball⁣
-Peanut ball⁣
-Chair⁣
-Birthing Stool⁣
-Wireless CTG Monitoring⁣
-Utilise all the positions the bed can get into⁣
‘Throne’ is a favourite amongst us Midwives! Put it up to stand and lean against it, all fours over the top or bottom of the bed⁣
⁣
Any questions? 👇🏻⁣

Love this post from @midwife_pip. Not enough peopl Love this post from @midwife_pip. Not enough people realise what a fantastic body part the vagina is or how perfect it is for adapting to childbirth. Don’t ignore it and then panic about how it’s going to accommodate your baby. Learn all about it and learn to appreciate it! (This post is especially for all my clients and my sis-in-law who wince 😖when I say the ‘V’ word! 🤣) #Repost @midwife_pip with @get_repost

Q. Can I pay for a doula in instalments?
•
A. Most doulas will offer a payment plan of some sort. The best thing to do is book your doula earlier rather than later in your pregnancy so you have more chance of spreading payments out if you need to. As with everything, it’s always best to ask the doulas in your area directly what they offer in terms of payment plans ❤️
